Investors in People

Gonville Academy is delighted to have received the Investors in People Award for the third time. This prestigious award demonstrates that Gonville is committed to realising the potential of its staff.

The report recognised our efforts in building an effective new leadership team, focused on and committed to continuing to  improve the school. The assessment team were also impressed by how our core values are embedded and underpin all the work we do: Passion, Urgency, Positivity, Aspiration and Commitment. The positive relationships between staff and pupils were highlighted, along with the reward systems in place to ensure that children feel that they are valued.

Teamwork was also highlighted as a strength, with the assessor commenting on our “excellent teamwork and supportive practices including mentoring and coaching.” We are very proud to have received this award, and look forward to continuing to strive for excellence together.

We Sing You Sing Summer Song

During the evening of Monday 30th June, Year 5 students performed at Fairfield Halls as part of the 7th We Sing U Sing Summer Song. Always an inspirational event, it was wonderful to see the children singing and dancing on stage along with schools from all over Croydon. The children were particularly excited to be joined on stage by Jahmene Douglas, of X-Factor fame. A huge thank you to all the parents who supported the event, and to John Fisher and his team for all their hard work and dedication.IMG_1928

Rights Respecting School Award

Gonville Academy has retained its status as a Level 2 Rights Respecting School, gaining the UNICEF Level 2 Award for the second time. The assessors were very impressed with the children’s awareness of their rights, and felt parents and carers were very well informed. The report found that the right to an education was a key focus of the school, and that children were clear about how to support the rights of others to learn. A huge thank you goes to Miss Taylor (Gonville’s Assistant Headteacher) and our Rights Respecting School Champions for leading the assessment day.
