A regular feature, “In Focus” examines the work of a key STEP service, team or individual. Our inaugural “In Focus”,features the STEP Catering Service; which currently operates at Applegarth, David Livingstone and Gonville.
Suzanne Martin, the STEP Catering Manager, leads a team of committed staff who understand the link between a nutritious diet and high standards of achievement. Using fresh, locally sourced produce, each Academy’s menu is thoughtfully developed to meet the needs of its community.
Training is prioritised, so that the catering staff consistently produce high quality food for our children. Emphasis is also placed on creating a positive dining experience where good manners are promoted. Significant investment has taken place across the Trust to upgrade catering and dining facilities. For example, the extension and refurbishment of Gonville Academy’s dining hall, which is close to completion, will considerably improve lunchtimes.
Pupils, staff and parents have continued to provide positive feedback since the service was taken “in-house”, illustrating the success of our strategy to extend the range of services offered to STEP Academies.
